Bobby Jack Maxwell – Obituary

bobbyFuneral service for Bobby Jack Maxwell, 76, will be Saturday, January 9, 2016 at 1:00 PM at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Tom Larkin officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.  Burial will be in Antioch Cemetery in Somerville.  Visitation will be Friday, January 8, 2016 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.

Mr. Maxwell died on Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at his residence.  He was born June 18, 1939, in Morgan County to Samuel Herbert Maxwell and Lena Matilda Macy Edmonson Maxwell.  He was a Film Operator for 3 M Company before his retirement. Mr. Maxwell was the Treasurer of Brewer High School Booster Club from 1972 until the fall of 2009.  He worked tirelessly for years to improve and grow athletic programs at Brewer High School and after years of dedicated service, the baseball field and the football field concession stand  was named in his honor . He continued working hard until his illness prevented him from doing what he loved. He was inducted into the Morgan County Sports Hall of Fame in 2004. Bobby was nicknamed “the General”  by former Principal, Mr. James R. Tucker, because of his tenacity in getting things done. He may have been a small man in stature but had he had a big heart and desire to help and support his Community.  He was a member of the Union Church of Christ, and a love for Gospel Music. He  was preceded in death by his parents.

Mary Fowler Maxwell, Somerville, AL

Two Daughters:
Cindy Lackey (Rickey), Somerville, AL and
Traci Ager  (Jay), Somerville, AL

Two Grandchildren:
Victoria Lackey and
Payne Russell

Pallbearers will be Lee Willis, Don Murphy, James Russell, Mark Sims, Sam Brown, and Glenn Winton.
