Bobby Gene Young, 81, died Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at Shearer-Richardson Nursing Home in Okolona. Bobby was born on June 20, 1935 to Austin and Minnie-Ola West Young. He attended Egypt Schools, graduated from Okolona High School and from Itawamba Junior College. Bobby spent over 32 years of his working career at Futorian/Strato-Lounger in Okolona retiring as manufacturing manager. He was a land owner, a catfish farmer and owned Young’s Fish and Steak House for several years. Bobby was a member of Okolona First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and was active in outreach programs at Silver Street and the Shearer Richardson Memorial Nursing Home, where he spent the last 6 years of his life. He was an avid bible reader.
A service honoring his life will be held on Friday, April 14, 2017 at 4 PM at the Okolona Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors with Rev. Dr. Roy McHenry officiating. Burial will follow in Boone’s Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 PM- service time Friday only at Holland-Okolona Chapel, which is honored to be serving the family.
Bobby is preceded in death by his parents, Austin and Minnie-Ola Young and a son, Michael Young in 2015. He is survived by Del Young and their children, Anna Leray of Amory, Sandra Perry and Andy Young both of Okolona and their families.
