Mr. Bobby G. Richardson, former Northern District Highway Commissioner, died at his Mooreville, MS residence on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 after a year long struggle with cancer. He was born January 17, 1937 to Roy Richardson and Rudell Coleman Richardson. He was a native of Ecru, MS and a Mississippi State University Civil Engineering graduate. He was the husband of Mae Justice Richardson, married for 40 years. Bobby was a member of First Baptist Church of Verona.
Bobby owned Richardson Engineering Co., in Starkville, MS for many years. He served as Northern District Highway Commissioner from 1976 -1984. He was a strong advocate for highway construction and planning and served with distinction. He was a business owner for several years after leaving the Commission office including 78 Restaurant and Richardson’s Outlet where he retired. He was an avid golfer and gospel singer and guitar player. He was a general aviation pilot and a 32 Degree Mason.
A celebration of life service will be at 11 AM, Friday, August 24, 2018 in the Tupelo Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors with Dr. David Hamilton officiating. Private burial will follow at Kirkville Cemetery (Itawamba Co.). Visitation will beThursday from 5 PM – 8 PM and Friday from 10AM to service time.
Survivors include his wife, Mae Richardson of Mooreville; son, Sean Richardson (Jessica) of Baton Rouge, LA; daughter, Cindy Richardson Kuhl of Aiken, S.C.; brother, Roy C. Richardson (Gerri) of Roxanna, IL; two grandsons, Wright Richardson and Austin Kuhl, and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Pallbearers will be Brock Bishop, Bill Donald, Justin Campbell, Wayne Butler, Butch Edwards, and Shane Schribner. Honorary pallbearers will be Don Dent and Tommy Justice.
