Bobby Franklin “Popcorn” Bridgman – Obituary

Mr. Bobby Franklin “Popcorn” Bridgman, died Sunday, June 18, 2017 at his residence near Okolona. He was born April 18, 1946 in Algoma, MS to Robbie Bridgman and Ellis Otts “Polly” Bridgman Austin. He served in the U.S. Army and MS Army National Guard. Popcorn worked for the City of Okolona reading meters and served as a volunteer fireman. A patriotic American, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and was an avid fan of Elvis Gospel music. He was of the Baptist faith.
A celebration of life service with military honors will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, June 21, 2017 in the Okolona Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors with Bro. Robert Earl Fowkles officiating. A graveside service will follow at Boones Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be today (Tues.) from 5pm- 7pm and Wednesday one hour prior to service time, all at Holland-Okolona

Survivors include the mother of his children, Genette Bridgman of Okolona; two sons, Rodney Bridgman (Frances) of McCondy, and Bryan Bridgman (Natasha) of Van Vleet; three sisters, Sue Driskill and Sandra Robertson (Tom), all of Saltillo, and Kay Katar (Rich) of Belden; three grandchildren, Justin Bridgman (Tori) of McCondy, Jacob Bridgman, and John Issac Bridgman, both of Van Vleet. He was preceded in death by his parents, Polly and Robbie, a sister, Charlotte Curlin and two nephews, Johnny and Ashley Curlin.
Pallbearers will be Justin Bridgman, Jacob Bridgman, John Issac Bridgman, Don Eddie Ferguson, Chief Terry Tucker, and Donald Jacobs. Honorary pallbearers will be past and present associates of the Okolona Fire Department, Dwight Parker and Mike Juckes.
