Bobbie Nell Maynor Waddell, 76, of Tuscumbia succumbed to a long-term illness and died at home Tuesday, March 26. Visitation will be Thursday, March 28, from 1:30 pm to 3 pm at Morrison’s Funeral Home in Tuscumbia followed by a funeral, Brother Don McGuyer officiating. She will be buried at Tuscumbia Oakwood Cemetery following a brief graveside service. Bobbie was born in Pisgah, Ala and moved to the Shoals area to attend the University of North Alabama where she received a bachelor’s degree in home economics and later earned a master’s degree in science education. She taught for the Colbert County School System until retiring in 1993.
Bobbie loved helping her students and listening the laughter of her three children and four grandchildren. She enjoyed working in her flower garden, cooking big family meals, and farming with her husband, whom she adored.
She was a member of Frankfort Road Church of Christ in Tuscumbia. She was preceded in death by her parents: Oscar Virgil Maynor and Evie Beatrice Adams Maynor; her two sisters: Doris Maynor Miles and Polly Maynor Hicks; her mother- and father-in-law, Mabel Rose Waddell and James Claude Waddell, Sr.
She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Howard Neal Waddell, Sr.; her son, Howard Neal Waddell, Jr. and his children Joshua Neal Waddell and Josie Ann Waddell of Tuscumbia; daughter Susan Alicia Waddell and her children Alicia Anne Clair Spangler and David Walker Spangler, all of Roanoke, Va.; and daughter Lynn Waddell Harvey and son-in-law James M. Harvey of St. Petersburg, Fla.
Pallbearers will be Joshua Neal Waddell, Bryant Coates, Carl Steven Waddell, Erik Waddell, Marshall Lewey, and Jerry Lewey. Bryant William, Darrell Reid, Mike Estey and Lawrence Grissom will be honorary pallbearers.
