Funeral for Bobbie Mack Harkness, 81, of Mount Hope will be Friday, July 17, 2015, at 11 a.m. at Parkway Baptist Church with Allen Compton and Dolton Robertson officiating and Parkway Funeral Home directing. Burial will be in Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Hayden with a one hour viewing at 2 p.m. in the church. Visitation will be today from 2 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Harkness, who died Tuesday, July 14, 2015, at Decatur Morgan Hospital, was born November 6, 1933, at Hayden Mountain in Blount County to Thomas Mack Harkness and Maryetta Harkness. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War with three Bronze Stars and was retired from Ford Motor Company. He was a member of Parkway Baptist Church. Mr. Harkness was preceded in death by his wife, Louise; his parents; brothers, J.D. Harkness and Earl Lively; and sisters, Pearl Hopkins and Ruth Johnson McAlpine.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Harkness; sons, Gregory (Wendy) Harkness, Bobby Mack (Glenda) Harkness Jr., Richard (Barb) Dix and James (Nicole) Dix; daughters, Tracy (Clark) Stacy, Tandi (Alan) Landes and Michelle (Vinny) Pratt; 24 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; nieces, Syble Payne, Wanda Jacobs and Kay Torbert; a host of other nieces, nephews and friends; and his faithful companion, Trixie.
