A native of Madison County, she lived most of her life in Bemis before moving to Hardeman County 15 years ago. She was a homemaker and, in years past, kept children in her home for nearly 40 years.
She loved horses, gardening and yard sales where she often collected items made of brass. Mrs. Cummings loved cooking especially for her favorite holidays, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
She is survived by a son, Richard Carpenter (Debra) of Cedar Grove, TN; two grandchildren, Meagan Anthony of Jackson and, Amy Elizabeth Thurman of Selmer; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Jimmie Ruth Morris of Bolivar; and a brother, Billy Williams of Jackson. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Pamela Acuff; and her parents, James Ernest Williams and Florence Hardee Williams Haase.
