Bob Bowen, 79, passed away on Wednesday, August 20, 2025. Bob was born on March 13, 1946 in Morgan County, Alabama to Willard Lewis Bowen and Mattie Lou Sanders Brown. Bob was a United States Army veteran who proudly served his country in Vietnam. Bob was an active member of First Baptist Church in Decatur.
Bob was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Above all, Bob was a devoted Christian. Bob’s love for the Lord shone through in every aspect of his life. Bob taught Sunday school for over 40 years, finding great joy in sharing prayer, scripture, and his faith with others. Bob was also a lifelong learner and researcher. He enjoyed reading, woodworking, restoring old cars, and collecting items which he found interesting.
Preceding Bob in death were his parents and brother, Billy Bowen. He is survived by his wife, Debbie Bowen; two children, Bobby (Linda) and Stephanie Bowen; brothers Buck (Judy) and Ronnie Bowen; and eight grandchildren. Bob’s legacy will live on through his loving family, especially through the happy memories he created with his grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at the Stephenson Chapel of First Baptist Church in Decatur, Alabama at 10:00 am, with a memorial service to follow at 11:00 am.
