“A single-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 10:35 a.m. Tuesday, April 9, has claimed the life of a Boaz man.

Mickey E. Echols, 75, was critically injured when the 1999 Chevrolet Silverado that he was driving left the roadway and struck a culvert. After the initial impact, the Chevrolet went airborne and overturned multiple times. Echols was not using a seat belt at the time of crash and was partially ejected. Echols was transported to Marshall Medical Center South, where he succumbed to injuries and was pronounced deceased.

The crash occurred on Alabama 68 near Dekalb County 362, approximately six miles west of Crossville, in Dekalb County.

Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.”
