Boaz Man Dies After Overturning Tractor-Trailer Near Carbon Hill

CARBON HILLS-The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency reports a single-vehicle accident involving a tractor-trailer in Walker County near Carbon Hill

“A single-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 10:05 a.m. Tuesday, April 16, has claimed the life of a Boaz man.

Stephen A. Zmolek Jr., 40, was fatally injured when the 2015 Freightliner Cascadia tractor-trailer he was driving left the roadway, overturned, and caught fire. Zmolek Jr. was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The crash occurred on Interstate 22 near the 49 mile marker, approximately five miles east of Carbon Hill, in Walker County.

Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.”
