Black History Month “Up From Slavery” Trolley Tour February 13

black history month logo_250x322FLORENCE-In recognition of Black History Month, the Tennessee Valley Historical Society is offering a tour of Florence sites that were of significance to the history of the local African American community. The “Up From Slavery” tour will be conducted by Lee Freeman from the Florence/ Lauderdale Public Library Heritage Department.

The trolley will depart from the Florence/Lauderdale Tourism & Visitor Center in McFarland Park in Florence at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 13. Participants are encouraged to call 256-740-4141 to reserve a seat. Please arrive at the center at 10:30 a.m. for registration, refreshments and an introduction to the tour.

General admission is $15. Seniors/Student are $10 and small children who can sit in a parent’s lap ride free.
