Mrs. Birdie Louise Thompson Heard departed this life on April 4, 2017 at Waynesboro Health and Rehabilitation Center in Waynesboro, Tennessee at the age of 93 Years, 2 Months. She was born February 4, 1924 in Collinwood, TN the daughter of the late Joe and Flora Daniel Thompson.
She married James Ross Heard on June 30, 1941 and he preceded her in death on October 30, 2002. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Heard was preceded in death by sisters, Ruby Price, Vergie Daniel Berry, Elsie Parker, Rosie Stooksberry and brothers, James and Vernie Thompson.
Mrs. Birdie was a retired cafeteria cook at Collinwood High School.
Survivors, sons, Bobby Heard of Collinwood, TN, Paul Heard, wife, Nancy of Waynesboro, TN; grandson, Derrick Heard, wife, Amanda; great-grandchildren, Megan, Emma and Hannah Heard and nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be Friday, April 7, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Memorial Gardens, Collinwood, Tennessee with John D. Heard officiating.
Visitation will be on Thursday, April 6, 2017 6:00 8:00 pm and on Friday, April 7, 2017, 9:00 am until 11:00 am. Shackelford Funeral Home, Collinwood, TN.
