Funeral for Billy Wayne Merrell, 70, of Town Creek will be today, May 1, 2014, at 2 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Chris Miller officiating. Burial will be in Providence Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon until service time.
Mr. Merrell, who died Tuesday, April 29, 2014, at his residence, was born January 28, 1944, in Farley to the late Paul Timothy Merrell and Florene Hall Merrell. He was a graduate of New Hope High School (1962), a Vietnam veteran and a United States Army International Program Manager at Redstone Arsenal.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda Nell Reed Merrell of Hatton; one daughter, Christine Brown (Mitchell) of New Hope; one stepdaughter, Hannah Steadman (Chad) of Hatton; two grandchildren, Alex Brown and Allison Brown, both of New Hope; two stepgrandsons, Will Steadman and Wes Steadman, both of Hatton; one brother, Benny Merrell of Huntsville; and sister, Nancy Brooks of Arab.
Pallbearers will be Gordon Parker, Roger Parker, Virgil Lord, James Reed, Julian Hamilton and Phillip Brackin. – S
