Colonel Billy Wayne McBroom, affectionately known as Papa, passed on August 19, 2026, at the age of 87.Born in Gunter, Texas he was raised in Avondale, Arizona. Attended college at Arizona State University receiving a BS degree in Accounting in 1962. Upon graduating with military honors he joined the US Army and served 25 years. During his service he received a MS degree at Florida Instituts of Technology.
After retiring from the US Army in Dallas, Texas, he owned and operated several child care centers in the Dalas area for over 15 years. He then moved to Florida for 25 years before moving to New Market.
He was an avid golfer and played throughout the US and oversears. HE and a partner won the inaugural Irish Golf Class among many other awards. He made 7 Holes-in-One.
He was a wonderful loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Jacqueline Lee McBroom; Daughter, Lisa Paige Steele; son, Wade Keith McBroom; Grandchildren, Kolbi, Amber and Amanda; Great Grandchildren, Makayla, Logan, Cade and Tony.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00PM Monday, August 24, 2026 in the chapel of Valhalla Funeral Home.
