Billy Wayne Gifford, age 79 of Belvidere, passed away on Tuesday, March 31, 2020 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on September 23, 1940 in Jackson County, Alabama to the late General Dewey and Grady Louise (Hawkins) Gifford. Before his retirement, he was employed as a machine operator at E & B Carpet Mill. A true outdoorsman, Billy enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, and turkey hunting, as well as taking care of animals. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, especially the children of the family. In addition to his parents, Billy was preceded in death by his wife, Nora Lee Willis Gifford. He is survived by his daughter, Ingrid Gifford (Jerry) Neal of Sewanee; granddaughter, Brittany Sandlin; brothers, Bobby (Annie) Gifford, Teddy General Gifford, and Jimmy Mitchell Gifford, all of Belvidere; and several nieces and nephews. A private service is planned with burial at Clark Gardens Cemetery with Rev. Rayburn Steele officiating. The register book and memorial cards will be available under the carport of Moore-Cortner Funeral Home from 12-1:30 pm on Friday, April 3, 2020. An attendant will be available to assist you.
