Billy Wayne Adams, 85, of Athens, passed away on Wednesday, May 21st, 2025, at Athens Limestone Hospital. He was born on August 7th, 1939, to Alvis and Clora Burrough Adams.
Mr. Adams is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jean Webb Adams, and his infant daughters, Tracy and Deborah. He is also preceded by his parents, Alvis and Clora Adams; his brother, Doug Adams; his sister, Linda Adams; and his nephew, Dewayne Eubanks.
He leaves behind a loving family, including his nephews Richard Green (Lisa) and Greg Adams (Lori); his niece Kim Adams Smith (David); as well as his in-laws Kay Adams, Johnny Holland, Danny Webb, and Denise Taylor. He is also survived by numerous other nieces and nephews who cherished him dearly.
Funeral services for Mr. Adams will be held on Friday, May 23rd, 2025, at 2:00 pm at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home. Visitation will occur prior to the service from 12:00-1:45 pm. Mr. Adams will be laid to rest at Oneal Cemetery.
Billy Wayne Adams was a proud graduate of Clements High School, class of 1958, and a veteran of the United States Army. Known for his camaraderie, he greatly enjoyed coffee calls with his fellow veterans. His dedication to service was evident in his work with EMS during storms, and he built a career at Monsanto before retiring.
Mr. Adams found joy and freedom in riding motorcycles and camping, and he was an avid sports fan, passionately following his favorite teams. His spirit of adventure and love for life will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege to know and love him.
Billy Wayne Adams’s legacy of kindness, courage, and zest for life will continue to inspire those he leaves behind.
