Billy Shoemaker
TUSCUMBIA-Billy Shoemaker former mayor of Tuscumbia died earlier today.
Shoemaker, an Alabama Alum worked for the Alabama Department of Transportation before becoming mayor of Tuscumbia for the first time. He worked as division engineer and supervised all highway jobs in six counties in northwest Alabama for sixteen years.
Shoemaker was a three term mayor in Tuscumbia from 2004 until 2016. He was the spearhead for many community projects in Tuscumbia during his time as mayor including the Avalon Avenue expansion.
Mayor Shoemaker leaves his wife Pat, Daughter Suzie Shoemaker and granddaughter Rebekah Alexander.
