Billy Ray Wilson, age 66, of Huntsville, Alabama passed away unexpectedly on September 3, 2026. He was born on August 30, 1960, in Birmingham, Alabama.A graduate of Samford University and a member of Alpha Tau Omega (ATO), he was a good and joyful person who truly never met a stranger. He had natural warmth about him and a way of making people feel welcome, comfortable, and glad to be in his company.
Having recently retired, he was looking forward to this new chapter of his life — spending more time with the people he loved, traveling with his wife, Sherry, and volunteering with his church. His passing came far too soon, just as he was beginning a season of life, he had very much looked forward to.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilburn E. Wilson and Geneva Wilson.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Sherry Hollman Wilson; his daughters, Jennifer Hollman and Molly Hollman Becatti (Kevin) his Mother in Law, Nancy Wilson; his sister, Susan Hart (John Rickels); his niece, Ally Edwards (David); and his nephew, Jon Hart (Joe King), and his great-nephew, Whit Edwards, along with extended family and many friends who will deeply miss his joyful spirit and friendship.
Services will be held Wednesday, September 9 at St. Mary of the Visitation Church, 222 Jefferson Street in Huntsville. Visitation will begin at 11 am at the church followed the Mass of Christian Burial.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to St. Mary of the Visitation Building and Grounds Fund; SMV Food Pantry or the charity of your choice.
