Billy Ray Stewart, age 73 of Huntland, passed away on Thursday, October 12, 2023, at Betty’s Place in Huntland. A native of Franklin County, he was born in Winchester on January 9, 1950, to the late John and Martha (Kirby) Stewart. Billy was the second of four children. He graduated from Huntland High School in 1968 before entering the National Guard at the age of 19. Billy co-owned and operated Hidden Valley Dairy. He was a farmer and carpenter but took the most pride in being a granddaddy. He enjoyed working with horses and mules. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Danny Stewart. Billy is survived by loving wife, Kathy W. Stewart of Huntland; son, Blake (Cindy) Stewart of Huntland; daughters, Stacy (JimBob) Thompson, and Amberley (Kevin) Speer, both of Huntland; grandchildren, Will Stewart, Makayla Stewart, Hayden Thompson, Harley Thompson, and Graynger Speer, all of Huntland; brother, Ronnie (Donna) Stewart of Huntland; sister, Kathy (Jerry Beaty) Stewart of Belvidere; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Visitation will be from 5-8pm on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 4:00 pm on Sunday, October 15, 2023, in the Moore-Cortner Chapel with Rev.
