Billy Ray Sorter, 89 of Arab passed away Sunday, July 6, 2025, at his residence. He was born May 24, 1936, the son of Charner Sorter and Lucy Kelly Sorter. He was retired from the US National Guard and Thiokol. He was a member of Northbrook Baptist Church in Cullman.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years Dianne Mills Sorter; daughters: Donna Smith (Eric), Kim Hodges and Jill Sorter-Corrado (Rick); sons: Scott Sorter (Amy) and Keith Sullivan (Karla); eleven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by son: Billy Ray Sorter, Jr and two infant children; parents: Charner and Lucy Sorter; siblings: Hazel Johnson, J. D. Sorter, Loree Woods, Clyde Sorter, Linda McGhee, Bobbie Fay Davis and Charner “June Bug” Sorter, Jr.
Funeral Service will be 3:00 p.m. Thursday, July 10, 2025, at Gober Funeral Chapel. The burial will be in Happy Home Cemetery, Guntersville, Gober Funeral Chapel directing.
Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Gober Funeral Chapel.
