Funeral service for Billy Ray Montgomery, 60, will be Wednesday, June 3, 2026 at 1:00 PM at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Preston Terry officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial will be in Decatur City Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 3, 2026 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Peck Funeral Home.
Mr. Montgomery passed away on Monday, June 1, 2026 at his residence. He was born August 7, 1965, in Morgan County, to Billy Ray Montgomery, Sr. and Nell Kirby Montgomery.
He was employed by the City of Decatur, in the Parks and Recreation Department, as a grounds-keeper, prior to his passing.
Billy accepted Jesus as a young man. He loved everyone whether they loved him or not. He talked to everyone, never met a stranger, and by the end of his conversation you either knew some of the same people or he or you had figured out that you were kin to each other somehow. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather.
Billy was preceded in death by his wife- Pam Montgomery and his parents.
Survivors include
Daughter – Monica Renee Chandler (Grant Chandler,II),
Grandchildren –
Cloey Rampley, Adalynn Rampley, and Insley Rampley.
Pallbearers will be Grant Chandler, Jonathon Long, Daniel Alvis, Marlin Cobb, Bruce Powers, and Larry Montgomery.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Bryan Parker and Justin Parker.
