Mr. Billy Ray Kennedy, 77 of Southside, AL passed away Saturday, July 24, 2021. Mr. Kennedy retired from military service after 40 years. He served 12 years in the U S Army Reserves and 28 years in the National Guard. After many years of service he retired from NCR as a computer programmer and also retired from the City of Southside as a computer programmer and director of Parks and Recreation. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willard B. Kennedy and Jimmie (Dover) Kennedy. Survivors include his wife of 13 years, Cheryl Kennedy; sons, Matt (Nanette) Kennedy and Daks (Dana) Kennedy; step children, Haley (Corey) Wood and Jared Booker; grandchildren, Tanner, Garret, Dawson, Griffin and Katie; brothers, Clark (Barbara) Kennedy, Gary (Pat) Kennedy and Boykin Kennedy, several nieces and nephews. The family extends special thanks to Philip Ellison, Charles Nichols, employees and staff with Comfort Care Hospice especially, Monique, Emily and Ginger, Pastor Jason Ellen and The Church at Wills Creek. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Hospital or Samaritan’s Purse.
Memorial services are being planned and will be announced.
