Billy Ray Franks, 85, of Florence, died Saturday January 25, 2014, at ECM Hospital. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday January 28, 2014, at Greenview Funeral Home with the service to follow at 11 a.m. in Greenview Memorial Chapel. Rev. Greg Burnett will officiate. Burial will follow in Greenview Memorial Park.
Mr. Franks was a native of Lutz, TN. He was a member of St. John United Methodist Church in Florence and was a retired truck driver and former owner of Franks Trucking Co. He also was involved in farming and served at the conclusion of WWII in the United State Navy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Ruby Franks; wife, Sue Franks; and sister, Charlene Brown. Surviving are his daughters, Pam Franks Russell (Richard), Muscle Shoals and Shelia Franks Jones, Florence; sisters, Hazel Brown and Betty Underwood both of Nashville and Ginger Jackson, Mishawaka, Indiana; grandchildren, Missy Cockburn Curtis (Ricky), Florence, Brandee Jones Donaldson, Tuscaloosa, Brad Russell, Muscle Shoals; great-grandchildren, Tyler Curtis, Tuscaloosa, Corey Donaldson, Auburn, Haley Donaldson, Decatur, AnnMarie Russell and Austin Russell both of Muscle Shoals.
Pallbearers will be Brad Russell, Tyler Curtis, Corey Donaldson, Ricky Underwood, Ronnie Underwood, Jeff Rich, Richard Russell and Ricky Curtis.
