Billy Ray Cooksey – Obituary

Billy-Cooksey-1466789286Billy Ray Cooksey was born on September5, 1934 in Shiloh, TN. He was the son of the late Mary Ellen and Leo Tom Cooksey. He departed this life on June 23, 2016 in Memphis, Tennessee at the age of 81 Years, 9 Months, 18 Days. He was a member of the West Shiloh Baptist Church in Stantonville, TN. He went to school at Shiloh in the 50’s and finish in the U.S. Airforce. Billy served our country for 12 years in the Airforce. After retiring from the Airforce, He went on to work for NASA for 25 years. He retired from NASA Space Center at Huntsville, AL as a videographer / photographer for NASA Space Center. Billy was always behind the camera his whole life, loving every moment of it. He was an avid bird hunter and loved training Brittany dogs. He was a loving and giving individual.

Mr. Cooksey is survived by two step daughters, Sue of Cuba, NY and Maggie of FL; three brothers: Jimmy Cooksey Sr. of Shiloh, TN, Tommy Cooksey of Counce, TN and Bobby Cooksey of Adamsville, TN; and a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Cooksey is preceded in death by his wife, Virgina Dorothy Scott Cooksey and two sisters, Ann Patterson and Josie Faye Cooksey.
