Billy Neal (Slick) Hammond, age 83, died Tuesday at Mitchell Hollinsworth. Mr. Hammond was born Nov. 25, 1934, in Lauderdale County. He was a U.S. Army veteran and retired from Reynolds. Mr. Hammond was a member of Old Mt. Bethel Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
Services will be noon Saturday in the chapel of Spry Funeral Home, Athens, with Terry Herston and Tommy Word officiating. Burial is in Harvey Cemetery. Visitation is Saturday from 10 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Survivors are wife, Patricia Kelley Hammond, of Killen; son, Joey Hammond, Nashville, Tennessee; daughters, Jill Gibson, of Killen, and Ginger (Chris) Cole, of Rogersville; grandchildren, Zachary Gibson, Sydney Gibson, and Chrislyn Cole; great-grandchildren, Mayzie and Isaac; sister, Betty Hammond, of Rogersville; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by parents, Herman and Edith Hammond, and brother, Charles Hammond.
Spry Funeral Home, Athens, is directing.
