billyBilly James Vandiver 76, of La Grange Road, passed away from this life, at his home Tuesday May 6, 2014. Visitation will be Thursday May 8, from 6-9pm at Colbert Memorial Chapel. Funeral services to begin at 2:00 P.M. Friday May 9, in the chapel, with burial to follow at Hopewell Cemetery.
Officiating are Brothers : Danny Fuller, Frank Richey, Shane McGregor and Bill Woodall.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother and sister.
Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Louise
Children, Sherrol Waldrep (Larry),Wanda McCulley (David), Marty Vandiver (Renee’), Bryan Vandiver (Sophie) and beloved dog, Lexie.

Grandchildren, Billy Slappey, Cristy Reesor, Britney Slappey, Kevin Waldrep, Alicia McGaugh, Nick Vandiver, Jamie Vandiver, Brandy Hubbert, Danni Fredrickson and McKayla Vandiver. Seventeen great-grandchildren.

Half -brother, Norman Vandiver, several brothers and sisters- in-law, nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Billy Slappey, Nick Vandiver, Jeremy Lane, Luke Butler, Mitchell Dalrymple, Ben Fisher and Tim Vandiver. Honorary pallbeares will be brothers –in-laws.

Billy was born July 21, 1937 to Clarence and Pauline Harrison Vandiver. He was raised along with his brother Edward O. (Fluke) Vandiver, sister Barbara Vandiver and half-brother Norman Vandiver in the La Grange Community.

He graduated from Colbert County High School in 1955. Billy married Mary Louise Gandy, December 17, 1955. They were married 58 years.

Billy worked at Robbins for 10 years and Reynolds Metals Co. for 18 1/2 years ,and was known as “Big C”. He was a calm, patient and loving man, husband, dad, papaw and friend. Billy obeyed the gospel at the age of 16. His family worshipped at the Tharptown Church of Christ for 47 years, recently attending the Newburg congregation in Russellville.

He was always ready with a smile and ready to laugh. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him, especially by his loving wife, children and grandchildren.
