Billy J. Fowler, 82 of Hazel Green, AL passed away on Friday, July 6, 2018. Bill was born on February 23, 1936. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Mamie Chapman Fowler; sister, Ruth Simmons; brother, Carl Fowler.
Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 52 years, Hilda Fowler of Hazel Green, AL; two sons, Jason Fowler of Mobile, AL and Kyle (Shelania) Fowler of Fayetteville, TN; two granddaughters, Roxi Fowler and Stella Fowler; three sisters, Fay (Vernon) Powell, Goose Creek, SC, Gladys Elliott of Mebane, NC and Gail Lamons of Holly Tree, AL.
Bill was a very active Christian of the Baptist faith. He loved to sing and play the piano, keyboard and organ. He directed music in several Baptist churches in southern middle Tennessee and north Alabama. In addition, he enjoyed southern gospel music, he sang and played in many quartets over the years. One of his favorite hymns was “It Is Well With My Soul”. This was his final church solo.
He was retired from Teledyne as an accountant and also was a proud veteran of the US Army. One of Bill’s favorite hobbies was raising goats and he spent many hours making sure they were cared for properly.
Bill loved his family and friends and was always willing to help anyone who needed his services in any way. His granddaughters, Roxi and Stella, were the joy of his life and he wholeheartedly supported their church and school activities. Bill will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
You may visit with the family on Monday, July 9, 2018 from 4:00pm until 8:00pm at Valhalla Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at 10:00am in Valhalla’s Chapel.
