At the age of 84, Billy Gene Aultman passed away peacefully at his home in Chelsea, AL, surrounded by his loving family and friends on February 23, 2024. A member of the Homewood Church of Christ, Bill’s faith was a cornerstone of his life.

Preceeded in Death his father, Roscoe Aultman, his mother, Willie Dee Aultman of Eldridge, AL, and his sister Evelyn Dodd, Bill’s legacy is carried on by those he leaves behind.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Virginia Ann Bonner Aultman. Together they raised three sons: Gabriel Aultman (Shannon) of Corner, AL, Farrell Aultman (Ashley) of Tallahassee, FL, and Sidney Aultman (Lori) of Sterrett, AL. Papa Bill was a proud grandfather to nine grandchildren: Parker, Kelsi, Noah, Isabelle, Brady, Casey, Elias, Lilly, and Jonathan. He also leaves behind a special cousin, Homer Farris, and numerous other family members who cherished him.

Bill served his country with honor, stationed at Keesler Air Force Base in the US Army, working in the Air Traffic Control division. After his service, he returned to Eldridge, AL, where he met and married Virginia Ann Bonner of Nauvoo, AL, on February 13, 1965, at Eldridge Church of Christ. Their marriage, lasting 59 years, was a testament to their enduring love and partnership.

They initially lived in Carbon Hill before moving to Adamsville, AL, to be closer to American Cast Iron and Pipe, where Bill worked for 34 years, most of them in the machine shop. Following his retirement, they relocated to Chelsea, AL, to be near their son, Sidney.

Special appreciation is extended to Bill’s sister-in-law, Linda House, for her unwavering devotion and care towards both Bill and Virginia. Heartfelt thanks also go to all the Hospice Workers, with a particular mention of Vickie Fossett and Marie McDonald, whose exceptional care and support during Bill’s final days were invaluable. Bill’s absence will leave a profound void in the lives of those who knew him, as he will always be remembered for his warm smile and engaging conversations.
