Billy G. Daniels, 83, departed this life from Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo on Thursday, Feb. 8, 2024 after a period of declining health. Billy, a local character with a larger than life presence, was one of 11 children born in Pontotoc Co. on Sept. 5, 1940 to the late Roy Daniels and Helen Estelle Sneed Daniels. Billy developed a love of the land and its produce at an early age and was a self employed farmer/landowner the rest of his life. He loved riding around his farm daily as a perfect steward of the soil would. Billy married Jean Hitchcock Daniels on July 28, 1958, a marriage of 65 years and, together, they had five children. A great respecter of the outdoors, he loved the woods and streams and fished and hunted all his life. He loved his guns and would be frequently seen at area gun shows trading guns. A born trader, he often bought and sold automobiles as a hobby. Billy and Jean were longtime members of the Mt. Gilead Baptist Church in Union Co. He enjoyed his large family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A service celebrating his life will be held at 2 PM Monday, Feb. 12, 2024 in the Sadie Holland Memorial Chapel at Holland Funeral Directors-Tupelo with his grandson, Bro. Brian Daniels, officiating, assisted by Bro. Larry Bain. Private burial will follow in the Daniels family plot at Dunlap Cemetery in Union Co. Visitation will be from Noon-service time on Monday only at Holland Funeral Directors, which is honored to serve their friends. For those unable to attend, the service may be viewed at www.hollandfuneraldirectors.com/Live-streaming at 2 PM Monday.

Billy is survived by his wife, Jean H. Daniels of Belden; 5 children, Billy Neal Daniels (Barbara) of Blue Springs, Pam Pettit (Greg) of Guntown, Tonya Rena Treadaway of Blue Springs, Charlotte Elizabeth Soper of Tupelo, and Kimberly Jean Tutor of Blue Springs; his grandchildren, Tiffany Cash (Mark), Blair Nichols, (Drew), Brandi Doss (Wayne), Ashley Tate (Jonathan), Amber Treadaway (deceased), Ashton Cash (Clare), Dylan Sparks, Dennis Sparks, Austin Hutcheson (Taylor), Joseph Tutor (Hannah), Brian Daniels (Eden), Noel Hall, and Shane Treadaway; 27 great- and great-great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Shirlon Butler of West Union, Linda Turner of Pontotoc, and Mary Hill of Sherman; numerous nieces and nephews and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Helen Daniels; and 7 siblings, Gerald Daniels, Glen Daniels, Keith Daniels, Michael Daniels, Denson Daniels, James Lynn Daniels and Terry Daniels.

Pallbearers will be grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be granddaughters.

Memorials may be made to Sanctuary Hospice House, P. O. Box 2177, Tupelo, MS 38803.
