Billy F. Shields, age 94, of Huntsville, AL passed away on Wednesday, March 27, 2019 with his family at his side. Mr. Shields was born in Mississippi to Joseph Frederick and Audrey Lois Shields. He served in the United States Army and retired after 21 years. He owned an insurance agency and worked as an agent the rest of his life. He was a founding member of Hillwood Baptist Church, a Deacon Emeritus and a member of the South Huntsville Civitans Club.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years Maxine Shields; son Ken Shields and parents Joseph Frederick and Audrey Lois Shields. He is survived by his sons Ron Shields and Randy Shields; daughters Pan Van Nostrand (Rick) and Barbie Hayes (Travis); brother Cooper Shields; grandchildren Kim Keller, Chris Shields, Dawn Carignan, Amy Shields, Jodie Bradley, Ronie Bradshaw, Daniel Shields, Molly Hancock, Jake Van Nostrand, Billy Hayes and Matthew Hayes; thirteen great-grandchildren and 3 great great-grandchildren.
Visitation for Mr. Shields will be held on Saturday, March 30, 2019 at Hillwood Baptist Church from 1:00 to 3:00 PM. His funeral service will follow at 3:00 pm. Burial will be at Huntsville Memory Gardens.
