Billy Darrell Roberson, 79, resident of Ashland passed away peacefully Monday August 28, 2023 at Ashland Health and Rehab following an extended illness.

Funeral Services honoring Darrell’s Life will be 2 PM Thursday August 31, 2023 in the Heritage Chapel of The Ripley Funeral Home with Bro. Randy Hamilton officiating. Visitation will be 5 PM until 8 PM Wednesday August 30, 2023 at The Ripley Funeral Home and will continue from 9 AM until Service Time on Thursday. Burial will be in Bluff Springs Cemetery in Benton County.

Darrell was born February 15, 1944 in Tippah County to the late Roy Larson and Amanda Elizabeth Idabell Wammack Roberson and received his education from Ashland High School. Never one to shy away from work, he was blessed with talented hands working for fifty years as a roofer and carpenter.

After his retirement he continued to piddle with things around the house and was continuously building something. Darrell loved being in God’s creation and his favorite pastimes included fishing, hunting, and shooting guns. He enjoyed the simple ways of life and his loving personality was a blessing to all those who knew him.

Those left to cherish his memories include one daughter, Sherrie Lynn Greenwood, three grandchildren, Catherine Michael, J. D. Greenwood, and Micheal Greenwood, four great grandsons, Jase, Ben, Eli, and Abraham, three brothers, James Ray Roberson (Karen), Mickey Van Roberson (Margaret), and Terry Lane Roberson (Teresia), and one sister, Bonnie Peraline Derrick.

In addition to his parents he is also preceded in death by one sister, Christine Gadd, one nephew, Tony Gadd, a sister in law, Pat Roberson, and a brother in law, Dale Derrick.

Those serving as pallbearers will be Ethan Burks, Ricky Barnett, Clay Campbell, Joey Roberson, James Derrick, and Garrett Hudspeth. Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Hudspeth and Billy Taylor.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff of Ashland Health and Rehab and a special nurse, Alisha Burks.
