Billy D. Thorn, 88, died Wednesday, March 16, 2016, at Carrington House, Iuka, Mississippi. He was born in Franklin County, Alabama to Hosea W. Thorn and Josie McMurray Thorn. He had worked in maintenance at Reynolds Metals and was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Services will be Friday, March 18, at 11 a.m. at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel, Red Bay, Alabama, with Brother Ray Kirk and Brother Steve Ledbetter officiating. Burial will be in Dempsey Cemetery, Russellville, Alabama. Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, Alabama, will be in charge of arrangements.
Survivors are one son, Wayne Thorn (Deb) Red Bay, Alabama; one daughter, Rhonda Thorn, Red Bay, Alabama; and one grandson, Josh Thorn, Russellville, Alabama.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Thorn, and two brothers, Thurston Thorn and Clark Thorn.
Pallbearers will be Danny Wooten, Michael Moomaw, Roger Thorn, Gary Thorn, Harold Watson, and L.V. Russell.
Visitation will be today, 6-9 p.m., at Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, Alabama.
