Billie-Garrett-1451840582Billie Joe Garrett was born March 29, 1931 in Shiloh, TN the son of the late John Douglas and Louise Brooks Garrett.

He was united in marriage to Carolyn Byrd on June 25, 1955.

Mr. Garrett served his country honorably in the United States Army from 1952 until 1954. He and his father owned and operated Garrett’s Texaco in Michie, TN for 28 years. Mr. Garrett also served as a rural mail carrier in Michie for 37 years, retiring after 39 years of civil service. He enjoyed attending auctions and “picking on the square” in Corinth, trading with his buddies, and visiting with all his special friends at McDonald’s Restaurant. Mr. Garrett was a faithful member of the Acton church of Christ.

Mr. Garrett departed this life on January 2, 2016 in Corinth, Mississippi at the age of 84 Years, 9 Months, 4 Days. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Carolyn (Byrd) Garrett of Michie, TN; a daughter, Cheri Jo Grissom and husband Don of Michie, TN; two grandchildren, Beth Watkins and husband Brian of Michie, TN and Kristi Myers and husband Richard of Gravette, AR; five great-grandchildren: Peyton Myers, Spencer Myers, Jaxson Watkins, Jakeb Watkins, and Jaelyn Watkins; a sister-in law, Linda Bridges and husband Larry of Corinth, MS; a brother-in-law, Kenneth (Buddy) Byrd and wife Shirley of Steens, MS; and many extended family and friends.

Memorial contributions in memory of Mr. Garrett may be made to the American Heart Association.
