Mrs. Billie Jean Ellis Mrs. Billie Jean Ellis, a beloved member of the community, peacefully passed away on January 29, 2026, at the age of 83. She was born on December 15, 1942, in Cleveland, Alabama. Mrs. Ellis was known for her kind and warmhearted nature, always eager to strike up conversations with anyone she met. She found great joy in watching westerns, indulging in romance novels, and spending quality time with her family on the front porch. Mrs. Ellis’s love for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren knew no bounds, and she cherished every moment she spent with them. Mrs. Ellis loved attending church and was a member of Cleveland Methodist Church. A 1961 graduate, Mrs. Ellis valued education and instilled the importance of learning in her family. She is survived by her sons, Joey (Angie) Lay, John (Ashley) Lay, Billy “Pistol” (Amanda) Sanders, Bill Turner, daughters Leann (Mark Mosley) Freeman, Jennifer (Bryan) Keeton, daughter-in-law Leigh Ann Lay, grandchildren John Allen Lay, Janie Lay, Hunter Whitworth, Jacob Lay, Lilah Lay, Matthew Crumpton, Colby Freeman, Kayla Smiley, Alyssa Thrift, as well as numerous great-grandchildren, family members, and friends. Mrs. Ellis is predeceased by her beloved husband, Chuck Ellis, her parents, Claude and Robbie Farrington, her son Mike Lay, grandchildren Troy Lay and Ben King, her brother Richard Farrington, and sister, Barbara Keeton. Her legacy of love, warmth, and kindness will forever be treasured by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Mrs. Billie Jean Ellis will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by her loved ones and the community she touched. May she rest in peace.
