Billie Ann Heflin Wood, 81, passed away Tuesday, June 14, 2016, at Huntsville Hospital. A Celebration of Life service will be Friday, June 17, 2016, at 2 p.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Decatur with Reverend Taylor Todd officiating and Roselawn Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. at the church. Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery.
Billie was born in Moulton to Bill and Annie Mae Stephenson Heflin on Jan. 6, 1935. She graduated from Decatur High School in the class of 1953. Billie was a longtime member of Westminster Presbyterian Church of Decatur where she sang in the choir from a young age of 12 and later served the church as an elder, a teacher, church committee member, and as a youth group leader.
Billie was employed by Metropolitan Life Insurance Company in both Decatur and Huntsville working within the administration department for almost 40 years.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Kenneth Wood; sister, Peggy Heflin Gattis (Huntsville); daughter, Margaret Wood Emery and son-in-law, Brian Emery (Decatur).
Billie was a voracious reader who also loved landscaping, gardening, camping, travel and music. She was a lifelong fan of the University of Alabama and a football season ticket holder (Roll Tide!!!)
