Bill Viall, 89, of Huntsville passed away Friday, November 30th, at Willowbrooke Court at Magnolia Trace. He is survived by sons, William Thomas “Billy” Viall (Cindy) of Decatur, and Walter Bradford Viall of Huntsville; daughter, Martha Emily Milton (Robert) of New Market; grandchildren, Kirby Porterfield, Hannah Walker, Walter Viall, Christine Milton, Blake Viall, Wesley Viall, Melissa Milton and Brett Allen; sister, Virginia Viall Gersch; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sue Wyatt Viall and his brothers, Richard, Brad, and Robert Viall.
He was born in Providence, RI, the son of William Bradford Viall and Rebecca Freethey Viall. Bill graduated from East Providence High School in 1947. He attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and received his BS in Civil Engineering. After a short time in the Army he attended the University of Alabama where he received his Master’s in Engineering, and met his bride, Sue. He worked as an engineer in Birmingham and Gadsden then moved to Huntsville to teach at UAH. He left academia and returned to industry with Teledyne Brown Engineer where he worked for 37 years on many NASA projects. After retirement he enjoyed traveling and spending time with his grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday, December 9th at the United Church of Huntsville, 7906 Whitesburg Drive, with the service to follow. A reception will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Bill and Sue Viall Memorial fund at the United Church of Huntsville.
