Bill Johnson
August 22, 1930 – August 25, 2017

Bill was born, raised, and lived his entire life in Huntsville, Alabama. He attended Lincoln Elementary and high school. After high school, he joined the U.S. Army, where he served in Korea with the 82nd Airborn as a Military Police Officer. Bill attended Mississippi State University where he played football. He then began a career with the U.S. Government, where he worked until his retirement. After retirement, he worked as a contractor for TRW.

He is survived by his wife, of 32 years, Judy Sherrill Johnson; four daughters, Christie Thompson, Karen Jacobs and husband Steve, Laurie Johnson, and Leslie Forbes and husband Earl; five grandsons, Randy Thompson (Chrissy Fussell), Daniel Jacobs, Alex Jacobs, Spencer Jacobs, and Ethan Forbes; and one granddaughter, Grace Forbes, all of Huntsville.

Bill will be fondly remembered for his many stories, helping many people, as well as playing Kris Kringle for many years at Burritt on the Mountain for their Christmas festivities.

Visitation will be held Monday, August 28 from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at First United Methodist Church. A celebration of his life will immediately follow.

He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church for more than 40 years. The family request that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the church.
