Bill Eaton, born on July 30, 1935, was known as “Papa Bill” to his family and friends. He went home to his heavenly Father on Sept. 5, 2016. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Henry and Rose Eaton, and his son-in-law, Max Harlan.
He leaves behind a brother, James Ellis (Betty) Eaton, of Johnson City, Tennessee; his children, William Jr. (Tamara), Tobe (Elaine), Dana, and Sunny Higginbotham (Jeremie); 15 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Papa Bill served briefly in the Air Force. He was an entrepreneur in all walks of his life including his television days and his time spent at what was then called The Florence Times and The Huntsville Times. He reminded his family everyday of many people that helped him along in his life journey. He was one to say, “I remember so and so,” and began to tell stories of many people that he knew in his walk on this Earth.
The family would like to thank North Alabama Hospice. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your favorite charity. Private services will be held only for immediate family. Please sign the guest book at sprywilliams.com.
