A Celebration of Life service for Mrs. Beulah Powell Booker will be held be noon Saturday, May 5, 2018, at Westside M.B. Church with Pastor Benjamin Burt officiating. The body will lie in repose one hour prior to the service. Inhumation will be in the Bell P.B. Church Cemetery.
Public viewing will be today from 3 to 7 p.m. and Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Family visitation will be Friday from 6 to 7 p.m. at Reynolds Funeral Home.
Mrs. Booker was born April 5, 1920 to the late Johnny Powell and Cora Lee Bailey Powell in Morgan County. She made her transition to be with her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, May 1, 2018.
Mrs. Booker was married to the late Curtis Lee Booker and to this union eight children were born. She was a devoted and excellent wife as in Proverbs 31. She was a homemaker who loved cooking, and was especially known for her cakes, taking them to people who were in need and businesses throughout the city. She was very quick-witted and could repeat the alphabet very fast backwards, her hobby was sewing quilts. She loved everyone and was very uplifting to all that came in contact with her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and two sons, Curtis Booker, Jr. and Donald Wallace Booker.
She is survived by: her children, John T. (Murna) Booker of Decatur, Olivia B. (Erskine) Brown of Athens, Danella Booker of Decatur, Annie (Roger) Booker-Williams of Athens, Willa Booker of Decatur and Samuel L. (Jeanetta) Booker of Decatur; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one daughter-in-law, Johnnie Mae Booker of Belle Mina; two sisters-in-law, Sallie (Billy) Floyd of Pullman, Michigan and Cora Booker of Chicago, Illinois; adopted daughter, Emma Jean Robinson of Decatur; devoted and special friends, Lakise Hayes of Decatur, The Rev. Mary (Eddie) Marshall of Decatur, Barbara Marshall of Madison, Elizabeth (Edward) Howard of Murfreesboro, Tennessee and Sandy and Joe Peek of Decatur; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Active pallbearers will be Derrick Brown, Curtis Booker III, Broderick Booker, Cortez Booker, Bryan Wiggins and Christopher Brown. Honorary pallbearers will be Ryan Wiggins, Kieran Booker, Wayne Powell and James Evans, Jr. Active flower attendants will be granddaughters, nieces and friends. Honorary flower attendants will be Mothers of Bell P.B. Church.
