Bettye L. Ziegler McGahey

Bettye L. Ziegler McGahey, 91, of Scottsboro, passed away at Hospice of
Chattanooga on Wednesday, April 28th.

Bettye was born on June 1, 1929, in Section, Alabama to Jacob and Myrtle Bell
Ziegler. She married Joe McGahey in 1950 and together they owned and operated the Trailways Bus Station in Scottsboro for over 20 years.

Bettye was a member of the 1st United Methodist Church of Scottsboro for over 70years where she was a member of the Pairs and Spares Sunday School class,
Friendship Circle, kitchen staff and Communion Steward for many years.

She was secretary/treasurer of the Jackson County Hospital Auxiliary for 12 years and secretary of the Democratic Women. She was actively involved with her
daughters in Girl Scouts, Methodist Youth Fellowship and Band Boosters of
Scottsboro High School.

Bettye is survived by her daughters, Janet and Marsha (Jody); her grandson, Joshua (Shelby), and grandchildren, Addison, Jack, Bryce and Jeanne Lou. She is also
survived by her nephews, Benny Bell and Wesley Powell as well as other cousins.

Bettye was preceded in death by her husband, Joe; her parents, Jacob and Myrtle
Bell Ziegler, and her brother, Lloyd Binford (Beto) Bell.

Graveside services with be at Cedar Hill Cemetery on Sunday, May 2nd, at 2:00pmwith Dr. Robert Gamble officiating.
