The funeral service for Bettye Gayle Lashley Knight, age 82 of Trussville, will be held on Thursday, December 6th, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville with Reverend Glen Ward officiating. Burial will follow in the Lineville City Cemetery.
Mrs. Knight passed away on Monday, December 3, 2018 at her home in Trussville. She was born and grew up in Clay County before moving to the Birmingham. Mrs. Knight had lived in Trussville in 1986. Mrs. Knight was a library worker for the Birmingham Board of Education. She graduated from Lineville High School in 1954 and attended Auburn University for 4 years. Mrs. Knight enjoyed cross stitching and sewing, and was a member of First United Methodist Church in Trussville.
She is survived by her husband, Jimmy R. Knight of Trussville; one son, David R. Knight (Tracy) of Birmingham; three grandchildren: Amy Knight (Kerry Elliot), Michael Knight (Shelby) and Alex Knight and one great-grandchild, Baylee Elliot. Mrs. Knight was preceded in death by her parents: Robert Roy Lashley and Verna Lorene Wesley Lashley.
David Knight, Michael R. Knight, Harold Stanford, Elton Reeves, Kerry Elliot and Paul Newberry will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 6, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. until service time at 11:00 p.m. at Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville.
