Betty Sue Evans Wood, 77, of Fort Payne, passed away Wednesday, May 27, 2026. She was born May 2, 1949 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, to the late Bill and Mabel Lett Evans. Mrs. Wood was a member of the Joyful Hearts Homemakers Club. She is remembered as a wonderful mother and grandmother.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Wilson Funeral Home with Rev. Donny Hilyer officiating. Burial will follow in Hartline Cemetery in the Sulphur Springs area. The family will receive friends Saturday from 4 until 7 p.m.
She is survived by her children Edwin Wood (Beth) and Tabatha Graham (Scott); grandson Payton Ervin; brother Tommy Evans (Melissa); sister Dot Gipson (Leon); sister-in-law Patricia Evans; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband R.L. Wood, half-brother Leo Evans, and half-sister Dura Thompson.
Wilson Funeral Home and Crematory of Fort Payne is in charge of arrangements.
