Betty Paschal Earwood, known as Granny by those who loved her, passed away peacefully on May 31, 2025, at the age of 87 while surrounded by her loving family.
Betty was born on December 11, 1937, in Cullman, AL, to Bluford James Paschal and Grace McLeroy Paschal. After graduating from Cullman High School in 1955, Betty worked alongside her lifelong sweetheart, Wailon Earwood, as an owner and operator of Earwood’s Nursery and Garden Center. Once retired, Betty worked for Cullman Regional Airport in Vinemont, AL.
In addition to being a business owner, Betty was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Married on June 14th, 1955, Betty and Wailon shared a loving marriage of 68 years. Together, they committed their lives to loving others and humbly serving their family, community, and church. Betty and Wailon became Gideons in 1975 and attended Longview Church of God, where they were longstanding members and diligent teachers of the Word. Besides her deep devotion to her husband, family, and faith, Betty’s greatest passion was serving others as unto the Lord.
Betty was known for her love of gardening, baking, and teaching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a woman of conviction and kindness. Above all, she was dedicated to the Lord. Her gentle grace and unwavering faith touched the lives of all who knew her.
Betty Earwood is survived by her grandchildren: John and Alaina Reid; Adam and Laura Reid; Katie Montgomery; Sarah and Jason Bell, Marc Montgomery, and Alicia Averette, as well as her great-grandchildren: Jeremy, Jacob, Jackson, Laila-Kate, and Stephanie Reid; Braeden and Lilly Patterson; Audrey, Robert, Anna Kathryn, and Elijah Morrison; and Kristian, Elizabeth, and Addison Averette–whom she lovingly adored. Betty is also survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Dennis Reid. She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Sherri Montgomery, and son-in-law, Robert; as well as her granddaughter, Stephanie L. Reid.
