Betty Musgrove Greene WrightBetty Musgrove Greene Wright, 94, of Jasper, AL, passed away on August 18, 2024. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held on Wednesday, August 21, 2024. The family will receive friends at 1:00 p.m. at First Methodist Church in Jasper, AL, with a service to follow at 2:00 p.m.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Dean Wright Anastasi (Robert); grandchildren, Robert Peter Anastasi, Jr. (Erin), Caroline Anastasi Bottinelli (Paul), Deana Anastasi Davis (Kasey), William Haig Wright III (Emily), Oliver Lyndon Wright, Molly Wright Ruble (Brandon), and Amy Bette Salter (Daniel); great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Reid Anastasi, Lillian Wright Anastasi, Logan Robert Bottinelli, Olivia Wright Bottinelli, Eva Lauren Wright, William Haig Wright IV, and Anne Oliver Ruble; daughter-in-law, Robin Baker Wright; and her sisters-in-law, Ann T. Greene and Sara Joanna Wright. Betty cherished her family and was deeply loved by a wide circle of cousins, nieces, nephews, and caregivers, including Wanda Stanfield, Ruby Shanklin, Denise Branch, Summer Dixon, Rita Shepherd, and Dionne Greenwood.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Earl Wright, Sr.; sons, Richard Earl Wright, Jr. and William Haig Wright II; parents, John Franklin Greene, Sr. and Eva Musgrove Greene; and brother, John Franklin Greene, Jr.

Born in Cordova on October 4, 1929, Betty graduated from Cordova High School, attended Huntingdon College, and completed her degree in Education at the University of Alabama. Betty began her teaching career at Memorial Park School before dedicating her time to raising her family. She was a devoted advocate for her son Richard, who had special needs and worked tirelessly to secure the best services for him, a testament to her selflessness and love. Although she never returned to the classroom, she continued to serve the educational community through her work on the school board.

Betty lived a life full of adventure, joy, and connection, traveling well into her 80s and bringing her vibrant spirit wherever she went.  Known for her exceptional hospitality, she had a remarkable gift for making everyone feel welcomed and included. Her home was a place of warmth and laughter, where family and friends gathered to enjoy being together. Her knack for creating joyful gatherings and her unwavering love for bringing people together made her a cherished and beloved figure in her community.
