Betty Mahan, 96, went to heaven on Monday, July 21, 2025. She was born in Alabama to Joe Spencer and Martha Brooks Spencer. She was a hard worker in the cafeteria at Vina High School for sixty-five years, feeding generations of students where she started working for two dollars a day. She was a longtime member of Vina First Baptist Church. Her favorite things to do were to mow grass, burn leaves and take care of her flock of chickens.

Services will be Wednesday, July 23, 2 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel, Red Bay, AL with Bro. Steve Ledbetter officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 23, 12-2 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, AL. Burial will be in Old Burleson Cemetery, Vina, AL. Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, AL will be in charge of arrangements.

She is survived by a son-in-law, Randall Armstrong (Christa); a nephew, L.T. Gober (Bonnie); a great-nephew, Tom Miller; two great-nieces, Tonya Wilemon (Jeff) and Lisa Miller and a host of other great-nieces and nephews and special friend, Kathy Smith.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Monroe Mahan; her parents; a daughter, Mary Jane Armstrong; two brothers, Olen Spencer and Elbert Spencer and four sisters, Marie Miller, Mamie Miller, Elizabeth Childers and Bonnie Gober.

Pallbearers will be Michael Moomaw, Paul Humphries, Teddy Humphries, Greg Hamilton, Brent Gillespie and Jeff Wilemon.
