Betty Lou Hester Hallmark, age 83, of Leighton, died Saturday, January 23, 2016. The family will receive friends for visitation on Tuesday, January 26, from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Bro. Greg Beasley will officiate. Interment will be in Colbert Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Hallmark was a native of Colbert County and a member of Valley Grove Baptist Church. A loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Mrs. Hallmark loved to cook, and she was an excellent homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Ornell Hallmark; parents, Okey and Virgie Hester; brother, Hershel Hester; and sisters, Vera Lee Hester, Verlon Thomas, and Dorothy Vernon.
Survivors include daughters, Jenny Pennington (James) and Valerie Hall (John); brother, Glenn Hester; sister, Una Watson (Fay); grandchildren, John Hall, Andy Hall, Isaac Hall, Luke Pennington, and Nick Pennington; great grandchildren, Cassidy and Lily Hall; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Pallbearers are grandsons and nephews, David Hovater and Philip Watson.
The family wants to sincerely acknowledge the love, support, and care by her sweet sister, Una Watson. They also would like to thank Keller Hospice.
