Betty Lou Bowling, age 77, a lifetime resident of the Union Hill community of Somerville, Alabama passed away at her residence on Thursday evening, April 10, 2025. Betty Lou was born January 13, 1948 in Morgan County, AL, one of six children born to Leo Cooper and Verna Mae Parker Cooper. Betty was a 1966 graduate of Union Hill High School and a member of Pine Ridge Baptist Church.
Betty was a special woman who loved her family and always made them a priority, especially her grandson and great grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening, food, sewing and during her younger years she enjoyed trips to the Florida beaches. Betty was a friend to many and was known for her resilience, kindness, and compassion. She touched the lives of all who were fortunate and blessed to have known her. She will be missed.
In addition to her parents, Leo and Verna Mae Cooper, Betty Lou is preceded in death by her daughter, Pamala “Pam” Denise Bowling; brother, Billy Cooper; sister Jimmie Ann Allen; and great grandson, Walter Luke Bowling.
Family members remaining behind to cherish their memories of Betty Lou include her son, Britton Bowling; sister, Patsy Hyatt (Wayne); brothers, Bobby Cooper and Freddie Cooper (Cathy); grandson, Kyle Bowling (Mindi); great grandchildren, Easton Bowling and Collin Bowling; sister-in-law, Joan Cooper.
The family has chosen cremation with a memorial service to be announced when plans are completed. Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel assisting with arrangements.
