Feature ImageBetty Langhout entered her heavenly home on October 13, 2018.   She was at home with her family by her side.  Betty was born on November 9, 1925 in Cincinnati, Ohio.  She graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University in 1947 where she was a member of Chi Omega and Phi Beta Kappa. Immediately following her graduation from college, she married her high school sweetheart, Tom, and they were married for over 70 years.

She was a wonderful musician playing the clarinet, piano and organ. She was a member of the Philanthropic Educational Organization (P.E.O.) for many years.  In 1966, she, Tom and their children moved to Huntsville where they became members of Latham United Methodist Church. While at Latham, she served in many capacities including the Wesley Sunday school, the Wesley singers, the Elderberries, and the Jo Walton Literary Society.  She also delivered meals on wheels for over 30 years. Betty was a district manager for both the Huntsville Times and the Huntsville News and retired in 1991. She also delivered newspapers for more than 10 years.

Betty was the rock of her family. Her quiet strength was grounded in our Lord as she raised her children and supported her husband.  Betty was the peacemaker and always made people feel at ease.  As her husband Tom use to say “My Betty… there is nothing she can’t do.”

Her husband, Tom Langhout and her son, David Langhout preceded her in death. Survivors include her children, Judy Tonini, Dan Langhout and Jeff Langhout, all of Huntsville; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday, October 16 at Maple Hill Cemetery with Matt Jones officiating.

Betty requested that in lieu of flowers memorials be made to Latham United Methodist Church.
