Betty Joyce Walker Henry, age 91, a resident of Columbia, passed away Monday, May 22, 2023, at her residence.
A memorial visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, from 1:00 – 3:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Born on April 13, 1932, in Dyersburg, Tennessee, Betty was the daughter of the late Herman Walker and the late Hazelle Moore Hendren. She enjoyed flower gardening, scrap booking, and crocheting. Betty also loved planning family gatherings and camping and traveling with her family. She was an excellent cook and was known for her “Apple Brown Betty.” Betty previously worked as an LPN for Lifeblood Blood Bank. She also volunteered at the schools her children went to and for the Red Cross, Maury Regional Medical Center, and Le Bonheur Hospital in Memphis. She was of the Christian faith.
She is survived by her son, Chuck (Maureen) Henry of Chapel Hill, daughter, Katy Henry of Columbia, daughter in law, Vera Henry of Franklin, grandchildren, Kelly (Joshua) Galyean of Franklin, Summer (Pablo) Medrano of Texas, Molly (Denton) Casey of Smyrna, Rebecca Henry of Chapel Hill, Mitchell Henry of Indiana, Kaley Nichols of Texas, and eight great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Peter Henry om June 7, 2022, and son, Michael Henry.
