Betty Joyce Garrett, age 81 of Hendersonville went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, June 30, 2024 at her home. She was born October 7, 1942 in Union County, Mississippi to Orman Holland & Audrey Beatrice McCain Russell. She worked as a homemaker and was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. She loved listening to gospel music, especially the Gaither Homecoming Friends, and had enjoyed attending the all-night gospel singings at the War Memorial Building when she was younger. She loved watching the game show network and was an avid fan of Steve Harvey. She is preceded in death by parents; husband, Cecil Ray Garrett; son, Mike Williams; step-son, Tim Garrett; son-in-law, Ricky Patton; 4 brothers, Danny, Cat, Kenny “Red” and Winston “Slim” Russell; sister, Bernice Golden. She is survived by her daughter, Teresa Patton, Hendersonville, TN; step-daughter, Regina (Barry) Harshaw, White House, TN; 5 grandchildren, Jason Patton, Missy (Timmy) Williams, Hannah Castle, Olivia Garrett and Brennan Harshaw; 2 great-grandchildren, Austin Williams and Addison Williams. Funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, July 6, 2024 at 11am in the chapel of Austin and Bell Funeral Home in White House with Bro. Duane Wray officiating. Interment will follow in Beech Cumberland Presbyterian Cemetery with Timmy Williams, Austin Williams, Marty Russell, Cooper Turner, Strother Hinkle, Craig Davis, Garrett Smith and Will Hinkle serving as pallbearers. Visitation is planned for Friday, July 5, 2024 4-8PM and Saturday, July 6, 2024 9AM until the hour of the service at the funeral home.
